No zull

IMG_4877After pulling pins at 08.15 we make our way to the always busy Norbury Junction.

IMG_4883OOPS !!! Two boats will not fit through a single bridge hole. Neither of these boaters were prepared to give up the bridge and I would imagine there were a few heated words between them.

IMG_4884We stopped briefly in Gnossall Heath (pronounced No zull) for Carolyn to pick up some milk and bread from the local bakery and it was then on through Cowley tunnel. Its the only one on The Shroppie and is only 81 yards long. It is also unlined so its a bit like travelling through a Cave.

IMG_4897Gotcha , Not perfectly in focus but not a bad shot of this Shroppie King of Fishers.

IMG_4902After a night on the moorings between bridges 7 and 8 it was another early start and we pulled pins at 07.25 and passed this boat at The Wolverhampton Boat Club.

IMG_4904Leaving The Shropshire Union Canal through the lock which lifts you up the dizzy height of 6 inches .It was to protect the old canal companies precious water supplies.

IMG_4907Back on the Staffs and Worcs canal and heading towards Great Haywood we soon come to the narrow sections. Luckily we never met a boat coming in the opposite direction although there are a couple of passing places.

IMG_4910Another good boat name…

IMG_4915After another good days cruising we picked up a mooring below Gailey lock. Tomorrow we plan to get down to Tixall wide which will be another good few hours of cruising. For some reason we find it so hard to sit still and not move. We do plenty of that in the Winter, So when the weather is good we just love to cruise…

                                                                                                                    Happy Days
