After a couple days below Nash mills we pulled pins at 07.15 and headed South again, after passing the site of the old Ovaltine factory we spotted this chap lurking in the hedge. I think he is there to scare off over staying canal boats and someone mentioned that he was employed by Canal and River Trust.
A little bit further on and we came across the boat above .How about this for a bow fender . What a great bit of protection for the front of the boat, although I don’t think I will be putting one on Inca.
Here we go again as we pass under the M25 getting closer and closer to London.
This is the view from our front room window on our mooring at The Grove Hotel, London's country estate. Its where the England football team stay before matches at Wembley and it’s also where David Cameron played Golf against Barack Obama a few weeks ago. It seems that there was a bit of a falling out between boaters and the security at the time of their golf match as there were security boats going up and down the canal at very high speeds, obviously no one told them about passing moored boats on tick over.
The following morning we had a bit of a lie in and pulled pins at 09.10 and headed the short distance to Cassioburry Park. We had help at the first lock from this Heron, who was determined to stay on the Lock gate as we entered the lock.
Looking at the colour of the canal water and knowing what some people put in there the Crocodiles would be the least of my worries if I was to take a dip in the canal.
Now moored in Cassiobury Park we will have a day here and take a walk into Watford. We have been here many times before but never walked the mile or so into the town.
Happy Days
