Lurking

IMG_3843After a couple of days chilling at Tixall wide it was time to pull pins and head off down the Staffs and Worcs canal. We soon passed Tixall gatehouse a 16th-century gatehouse situated  near Stafford and is all that remains of Tixall Hall. It is a Grade 1 listed building. The hall was demolished in 1927. This home of the Aston family was used a prison for Mary Queen of Scots.

IMG_3854Tixall lock and again we were third in line to go up . I think we will have to start having some early mornings to miss all the queues as we are now well and truly into the silly season for the canals.

IMG_3872We passed this chap lurking behind a bush. Curly reckons he's up to no good.

IMG_3875We should be OK if we break down here.

IMG_3887With some heavy showers we decided to stop for a Carveries at Radford bank just outside of Stafford. At £4.29 it was not the best we have ever had ,but at that price you couldn't really knock it.

  1. Aloha Gary, Carolyn and Curly, It's always good to see Curly joining you on Inca. We are doing the Four Counties ring in September (hiring out of Trevor) with two of our grandchildren. Thanks for the glimpses of the Staffs and Worcs you are providing. Safe travels and who knows where we all will be in September.
