It is now 3 years just about to the day since we moved on to Narrowboat Inca and we are certainly racking up the miles and locks we have completed . Over the last 6 months we have done 315 miles and gone through 224 locks, which for the Winter period when there are a lot of stoppages for repairs to the network is pretty good going me thinks. In that time we have been to London and then up to Rugby, then up the Leicester line to Market Harborough and now we are back at Milton Keynes again and heading South on The Grand Union canal. So, In the last 12 months we have done 1,284 miles and 1,007 locks. Canal and River Trust the organisation that runs the canals states that continuous cruisers such as us should move at least 20 miles a year and if you don’t they will not renew your licence. I think we might just about be OK.
Our totals for the 3 years looks like this. We have done 3,282 miles, gone through 2,317 locks and our most reliable Beta 43 engine has run for 3,044 hours without missing a single beat. I reckon I must have emptied over 500 toilet cassettes and I’m still waiting for Carolyn to empty her first. I have also posted 514 blog posts. As for the Red wine consumed, its probably been a bit too much….. Now then where’s that corkscrew !
Happy Days
That was a very good RESUMEE I Would definitely say TOO MUCH WINE xx
ReplyDeleteProbably too much wine as you say... I do need to ease back a bit.mThe trouble is with the Summer coming it's so good to sit out on the towpath with a glass or three !
DeleteCongratulations on three years! How many of those 2,317 locks did the red wine meister do? Remember it's easier to single-hand a cassette than a narrowboat! Wishing you both good health and many safe & enjoyable miles in your future. Amos and Charlene
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Amos and Charlene, The time has gone so quickly and we still have a lot of the system to see before we retire back to dry land. I will remember that about the cassette ... All the best Gary and Carolyn.
