Just the ticket

IMG_6369Its not very often that you find a really good Pasty ,but the West Cornish Pasty Co in Banbury do an excellent Traditional Pasty . After mentioning in passing that we were on a boat they informed us that we were entitled to a discount. So not just a good Pasty but money off as well…. Just the ticket !!!!!

IMG_6372After 10 days it was time for number one daughter Chloe to pick up number one Granddaughter Curly. She has completely worn Carolyn out as she is so full of energy and never stops.

IMG_6376Out of Curlys 10 days with us at Banbury she and Carolyn went swimming on 9 of them at the Spiceball centre. Carolyn joined the evening Aqua fit classes and also did an hour workout every other night. Meanwhile i did a workout every night with a bottle of the red stuff.

IMG_6389After just over 2 enjoyable weeks at Banbury it was time to make a move. The day before we left we past Tooleys, went through the lift bridge then dropped down the lock, then after filling with water we headed down to do a shop at Morrison's before winding (turning) and returning to Spiceball park for our last night.

IMG_6395On Saturday morning we said our goodbyes to Keith and Ann from nb Oakfield. We have had a very good few weeks together and have really enjoyed their company. No doubt we will meet up again soon.

IMG_6412What do you call a gathering of Scarecrows having a group cuddle ????     Anyway they seemed to be happy enough.

IMG_6417Not only do we cook on the top of the stove but also inside of it as well. On a long cruise where we have lunch on the hoof (not stopping) we put a few potatoes in the ash pan. Then 2 or 3 hours later we have piping hot jacket spuds Yum Yum. In total we cruised for eight and half hours finally stopping before bridge 125 on the summit of the South Oxford Canal. We did fill with diesel from Fenny Compton on route where it was 70p a litre .Sunday will be a day of rest and watching Spurs in the Capital one cup final.

We are now heading North and want to get through the Stoppage at Napton locks which is on the 4th of March. Then after that we haven't got a clue what we are going to do for the next month or so ,Oh! the joys of being retired . We are booked into Wigrams marina in April for a week when we have to go back down to Devon for our yearly health checks and meet up with family and friends . Then when we get back we will commence on our Summer cruise which we hope will be on the river Thames and  then on the Kennet and Avon canal down to Bath.    Exciting times ahead…

                                                                                                                               Happy Days

  2. Thanks for the info about the Spiceball Leisure Centre. We have the 2 grandsons coming to stay with us in the first week or so of their Scottish school holidays, so maybe we will aim to be in Banbury for part of that time!
We're planning to head for London when we first arrive back on the boat in the latter part of May, so maybe we will see you on the way.
    Cheers, Marilyn

Bon voyage, wherever you are until we meet up again in the summer, maybe.
