With a long cruise ahead of us we pulled pins at 06.15 and headed towards Trevor and the Ponty Aqueduct.
You may remember that I had problems going over The Stream in the Sky on our way in To Llangollen, well the trip back over was just as bad. I still don’t understand where this sudden fear of heights has come from.
Moving on and we passed this boat with a daft name . Although our Carolyn didn’t think it was that daft.
I was hoping that Curly wouldn’t see this old chap , but of course she did and said “He looks just like you Granddad”. Thanks Curly…
At New Marton top lock and it seems that a lot of boater’s have made an early start as we had to wait 30 minutes for our turn to drop down the lock. Mind you a couple of days ago and we were told that there were over 30 boats waiting and it was taking 4 hours to drop down this one lock.
Carolyn is now teaching Curly how to secure Inca with the centre line. She is now very good with her knots and hitches . If she keeps this up I will soon be made redundant.
After a good eight and a half hour cruise we made it to our destination of Ellesmere. After attending our pre planned appointment and a good shop at Tesco we rang Canal and River Trust to arrange passage down onto The Montgomery canal. We were lucky to get a place to drop down on the following day between 12.00 and 14.00. The joy with The Monty is that they only allow 12 boats on the canal at anyone time ,so you are normally guaranteed a peaceful few days.
Happy Days
