King of Fishers !

IMG_1207

This is so far the best pictures I have been able to get of my favourite bird The Kingfisher. I feel that I am so lucky and fortunate to get this close to what is a very secretive bird.

Although its not perfectly in focus I am well over the moon with these pictures. Its the same bird in both photo’s. He/She just sat there and seemed like it was enjoying posing for the camera.

    1. I love it as well , We both still get so excited every time we see one ,even though we have now probably seen hundreds of them . A true delight .

  2. Good on you - it's always so difficult to take great bird photos. Unless you are a super-dooper photographer with lots of fancy gear, that is. And plenty of patience too.

    1. Hi Jenny and Robin. It was just shear luck. I have thought about getting a better camera , but by time I focused it and then did this and that the bird would have gone ..

  3. Fantastic pictures, you’re very lucky to get them. We’ve seen more kingfishers in the last month than we saw all summer, but none of them stayed still long enough for a picture blurred or not!

    1. Hi Maggs , Some days we don't see any Kingfishers and then others we see two or three. I think it's easier to see them in the Winter when there aren't any leaves on the trees. Hopefully I can get a few more pics ...Gary

    1. Hi Pam and Terry, Unbelievable ! We only said today that we wondered what you two were up to. Not sure now what we are doing next summer. We were going up North ,but after all the floods we are now not sure.. Hope we can meet up sometime and have a drink or three. Best wishes Gary and Carolyn
