Still in Brum

We had only intended to spend a couple of days in Birmingham, but unfortunately Carolyn has damaged the lens on her right eye so we have been forced to stay while she gets treatment for it.

IMG_3008After spending a couple of days at Brindley place we have to move as our time is up . Luckily there is a mooring available around the corner opposite the NIA  (National Indoor Arena). As we reverse out of Brindley place we pass the bike boat. They seem to do a good trade repairing bikes on the towpath.

IMG_3010We then reverse around to the famous canal roundabout.

IMG_3011Then onto our new mooring. We have the NIC, The Birmingham library and The Sea life centre all in view from our front room window.

IMG_3015You wouldn't believe the amount of rubbish that ends up in the canal . Everyday this boat comes by and nets as much as they can.

IMG_3102This is what we got next to Inca in just one day. I have never seen so many coconuts floating in a canal. There must be a tree hanging over the canal where they just drop in…Or maybe not !!

IMG_3050 Out for an afternoon stroll around Gas Street basin in Birmingham.

IMG_3052Looking back down Gas Street towards The Mailbox. I'm glad we didn't moor here as it is so busy and loud .

IMG_3053How about this for an Idea. I've never seen a Land Rover on a narrowboat before.. I somehow cant see the idea catching on …..

                                                                                                     Happy Days
